Islam stresses on non-violence and peace building

Violent barbarity is being committed by terrorists across the world in the name of Islam. There is perhaps an urgent need to popularise the true understanding of Islam, one rooted in a commitment to peace, non-violence, inter community harmony and prosperity for all people.

Muslims simply cannot insist upon re-creating days of yore when Islam was on zenith. This approach of hate/exclusivism/establishment of Caliphate being promoted by radicals/terrorists, is bogus and contradicts Islamic values. There is an urgent need to articulate and promote a positive approach to conflict-prevention/resolution for restoring peace. Muslims should take inspiration from the Quran and from the life of the Prophet, which stresses on refrain from reckless violence, besides affirming peaceful co-existence with other communities. All of us should make themselves useful to others, which itself would help reduce differences, defuse conflicts and build harmonious inter-community relations.

Mindfulness of the ephemeral nature of this world (and of the many worldly issues that people seem to never cease squabbling about) and consciousness of the eternity of the Hereafter can help people avoid wasting their lives in pointless conflict with others, thereby ruining their prospects in the eternal Hereafter.
